- Hagia Sofia
This beautiful basilica is situated in the capital city of Istanbul, and the Eastern Roman Emperor Justinian built it during the 6th century. This beautiful architecture exhibits some masterpieces of Roman engineering that features a huge dome measuring 31 feet, and it was the largest space in the ancient world.
However, this beautiful church became a looting center by the fourth Crusaders in 1204. Later on, it was transformed into a mosque after the Ottoman seized the city. In 1935, Hagia Sofia was changed into a museum and now it tops the most visited tourist attractions in Turkey.
- Goreme Fairy Chimneys – Cappadocia
Cappadocia is famous for its enticing rock formations and one-of-a-kind historical heritage. The town of Gerome presents strange rock formations that are located among many tuff cones, popularly known as fairy chimneys. The tuff cones are formed as a result of water and wind erosion from two different volcanic layers. The first layer of tuff cones is covered with volcanic ash while the other one comprises a thin layer of basalt. This thin layer of basalt has more resistance to erosion.
This easy formation of tuff cones is the sole reason that many houses, storage facilities, and churches have come up in the region over many centuries.
- Library of Celsus
The library of Celsus is one of the most exotic locations in the ancient ruins of Ephesus. Located on the west coast of the country, this famous historical site once comprised the famous Temple of Artemis. The Temple of Artemis was once considered the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
However, the archbishop of Constantinople destroyed this famous temple in 401 AD. Although, the Library of Celsus stands tall and strong along with the famous monument of the Great Theatre. The Library o Celsus was built in 125 A.D. for storing 12,000 scrolls along to serve the famous tomb of Celsus, who was then the governor of Asia. During the 1970s this famous façade was newly built to present as one of the most beautiful locations in Turkey.
- Blue Mosque
The blue mosque of Istanbul is a famous architectural masterpiece is also known as Sultan Ahmed. This beautiful mosque consists of six minarets that are painted in blue color and has become one of the renowned tourist attractions in the whole of Turkey.
Built from 1609 to 1616, this famous blue mosque comprises the tomb of its founder. Moreover, the mosque also entails 20,000 blue tiles of various patterns that are unique in the country.
